I first discovered Inga Humpe through a radio program in Singapore called 'Hits In Germany'. Considered myself lucky to have a tape recorder on hand to record the ending part of 'Careless Love' which the DJ mentioned by the Humpe sisters. This was an important clue, as one would have easily mistaken it as another new release from Sandra because they sounded so alike. I played the tape to a local pararrel importer that specialised in German eurodance music and the owner who wasn't sure who she was, was convinced that it must be some new stuffs from Sandra. With all these guessing and asking around, I knew at that time finding the correct identity of the singer won't be an easy task. A few weeks passed and I was fortunate enough to buy a Smash Hits magazine and in it was an ad promoting Swimming With Shark's 'Careless Love' single in UK. One thing led to another, I soon learned about their involvement in Hubert Kah's 'Sound of My Heart' album and an earlier release by the name of 'Humpe Humpe'. Two months before going to Australia to further my studies in Australia, I happened to chance upon Inga Humpe's solo album called 'Planet Oz'. This was to become one of my all-time favourite CDs which contained songs of timeless quality like 'Riding Into Blue (the cowboy song), 'Do I Have To' (a Pet Shop Boys' cover), 'No Longer Friends', 'Moon' (Enya-liked song), etc. Similar singers : Sandra , Mylene Farmer, Ysa Ferrer, Paradiso, Dubstar, Strawberry Switchblade , Blumchen |
